BE THE CHANGE - Agbo Kpevor Enoch (E. K. AGBO)
Dare To Be The Change You Want To See In This World!

Change is indispensable and we humans should learn to accept the changes in life. One who learns to adapt to the change is smart. But one who brings the change he or she wishes in the world makes history. Rightly said by Mahatma Gandhi “We should be the change we want to see in the world”.

"Purpose in your heart to be the person of God who brings about change in the world around you."

Instead of facing the world with fears, making a change that will be right for us and others is the act of a good man. So we should always be bold enough to bring  in new changes in the world. A change we initiate should bring  peace and harmony to the world.

Dare to be different and "walk the talk". Dare to stand out and be the change we want to see in the world. Dare to be the one with a voice. Dare to shine!

VICTOR AMOAHENE ASSUAH UNVEILED AS THE RUNNING MATE OF JOSEPH DANSER FOR PUC SRC PRESIDENCY

Victor Amoahene Assuah

Victor Amoahene Assuah To Vice Joseph Danser

Nominations for the PUC SRC Elections 2020 ended few days ago and vetting was set to start on 27th March, 2020 but has been postponed due to the global pandemic. Interesting enough there have been circulations of a flyer from the camp of Team JOVIC with a slogan, "NEW VISION, NEW DIRECTION" and as it stands now and with the information gathered by The PENTVARS HUB Media, we can attest to the fact that, there is a merger between the two contenders of this year's SRC Presidency race.
Victor Amoahene Assuah, 3rd Year Banking and Finance Student

Assuah Amoahene Victor, a third year student of Banking and Finance who was formerly ABE Student and an old boy of Tarkwa Senior High School, believes that he has the vision to build a well known SRC that will help inspire and protect the interest of it's students. Master Amoahene however stated emphatically that he rallied behind Joseph Danser because upon studying him for a while, he is a beneficent person and his humble attitude got him caught up as someone he shares similar ideas with and together with him they can make PUC a great society. He added that, Team JOVIC has plans of mitigating the challenges that faces the Students' Council and its members hence taking PUC SRC a step further than it is already.

COVID-19 : GHANA MUST BRACE HERSELF FOR THE WORSE - Dr. S. F. Gyasi, Senior Lecturer In Microbiology, University Of Energy And Natural Resources, Ghana
Published By: Agbo Kpevor Enoch,
The PENTVARS HUB Media

I write to contribute my quota to nation building on the COVID-19 discourse in these emergency times. Before I start, permit me to explain some basic terminologies that have been used interchangeably.

Quarantine means you have come into contact with a COVID-19 positive patient but you are not showing any of the symptoms yet. At this stage, you are quarantined.

But if you start showing symptoms of the disease, you are isolated whiles your samples get tested. If the test turns up positive, then you are managed at the Isolation centre.

In every pandemic situation such as COVID-19, there are 2 main entry routes into a nation. These are the vertical transmission route (Imported cases) and horizontal transmission  route (Community transmission stage). For vertical transmission, the index patient and all its possible contacts can be traced by Public Health officials and quarantine for 14 days. If within the period, these contacts start showing symptoms of the disease, they can be managed at an isolation centre after their infections status have been confirmed.

However, if the transmission moves from vertical to horizontal, ie, community transmission, then we must brace ourselves for the worse. Worse not because everybody who get infected will die, NO, but worse because the transmission pattern gets exponential. When we start getting 100s of transmission on daily basis, our current non robust Health System (i.e., Testing of cases and management of same) will crumble down and this is where we have case fatalities especially people with underlined medical conditions like blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and even HIV. At this stage, nosocomial infection (Hospital acquired infections) are also likely and this is where people begin to loose their lives.
Confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ghana rises to 19 as at 21 March 2020- 09:40GMT.

As of today, 21st of March 2020, Ghana is in its horizontal transmission stage and that is why I am worried. The next few weeks will be very critical in Ghana as far as COVID-19 is concerned and we must brace ourselves as a nation for this. I was glad to hear the Government of Ghana’s directive to close down all churches, Mosques, Universities, Senior High Schools, Junior High Schools and Primary Schools. In addition, the avoidance of crowded areas using social distancing, use of alcohol based hand sanitizers and regular washing of hands with soap under running water will all be very helpful at this stage. But with community transmission setting in, I think we should expect more lock downs in the coming days. I will advice Ghanaians at this stage to start stocking essential items like food, basic pain killers among many others if we can.

At this point, the best place to stay is home if you don’t have very urgent matter to attend to (especially Hospitals, Water Companies, Power, etc). Well, it is good to use gloves and alcohol based hand sanitizers but I am afraid, those items alone cannot safe guard your safety if you neglect regular washing of hands and staying at home (if you don’t belong to the essential groups).
Let's Adhere To The Preventive Measures, Together We Can Beat Coronavirus

I will also advice if you start exhibiting signs of COVID-19 which include coughing, sneezing, mild head aches and difficulty in breathing, don’t try to go to the hospital immediately but stay at home and call any of the emergency numbers provided by the Ministry of Health. Officers will interact with you on the fon and will advise you accordingly. This is because on your way to the hospital, you could further spread the virus (especially in taxis, trotros and buses) if you end up turning positive for the disease. Even at the OPD if the hospitals are not expecting you, you could further spread the virus if you turn up positive.

I must admit people who get infected can recover if managed properly so there is no need to fear and panic but we must adhere to safety guidelines being offered by the Ministry of Health so we do not escalate the numbers. The fatality of this infections lies in escalating the number of new infections on daily basis.

The only way we can fight this disease is breaking the chain of infection and each and everyone has a role to play.

May God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong.

APPIAH-BADU CHRIS DECLARES HIS INTENTIONS TO RUN FOR PUC SRC PRESIDENCY

Appiah-Badu Chris (ABC) has today declared his good intentions for the Students' Representative Council (SRC) of Pentecost University College (PUC) through an interview with The PENTVARS HUB Media to contest for the position of the SRC President.

Speaking with one of our colleagues, the current Deputy SRC PRO who doubles as the Campus Director for Hult Prize PUC and a third year Communication Studies Student, Master Chris Appiah-Badu reiterated that his aim is to leave a blueprint of good leadership worth emulating in order to build a strong and better SRC which will propel PUC to a higher pedestal.

Chris Appiah-Badu, the current Deputy
SRC PRO

Speaking about himself, he mentioned that he's an old student of Accra Academy, where he served as a member of the Academic Committee for GETFund Hostel. He made mention of several Leadership portfolios which included;

▪️SRC Entercom PRO Level 200

The zealous aspirant answered a question on why he chose to vie for the PUC SRC Presidency as "to build a strong and better SRC where students issues are prioritized over interests of executives". He ended the interview by stating that from this day forward, he is an aspirant in answering the question of who takes over the SRC Presidency from the incumbent President - His Excellency Daniel Asomani.
HER ROYAL HIGHNESS AFIA BOADU WRITES FROM AFAR

One thing I have realized with regards to student politics, is that human relations and engagements are key factors in electorates approval.

For people who are discerning, your hypocrisy and desperation becomes evident when all of a sudden, you Become the nicest person on campus, you become increasing active and visible.

One quote one person aspiring to be the SRC President told me was, "don't be desperate to win power, be desperate to make an impact"

And I agree with this, when you are desperate to win power, it becomes clear in the eyes of the people, and you become annoying.
An exact thing people have been saying about one of the candidates, please, it's not a matter of life and death, it's not who has money, let your good works speak for you.

For me, I haven't made up my mind yet, but come election day, I'm voting for the one who has a track record, who has good personal relations and can do the job.
No political poo, Be smart and Vote smart
If the elections were to be held today, it's obvious the other simple, quiet and very friendly guy will win, from my checks.

I'm sure for us in level 100, we remember him from orientation, when we gave him a standing ovation, hmm just his voice, a fine gentleman.
Well mannered, friendly and productive.
He related to us like he was in level 100.

But this is not enough too, prayers, hardwork and good policies, and the people you surround yourself with.
PUC DECIDES 2020 #VoteSmart
Good luck to all of them, and I pray the better candidate wins.

I know people will insult me, thanks in advance. Some will say level 100, when did you come to PUC, thanks. People will think this is an endorsement, no it's not. Don't be complacent, I am watching, they are watching.

Your POWER is your vote, do not give it out easily because this is 'THE BIG ISSUE'

FUNNY THING ABOUT 2020 ELECTIONS IN GHANA ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ

The NPP deserve to go back to opposition but the NDC doesn't deserve to come back to power (Summary)

In view of this, the NPP says the alternative is scary. This in itself is an admission of failure.  We are  not good enough but make do with us because our opponents are worse. The alternative is scary means you are trapped between the devil and the deep blue sea, eitherway you won't win.

We hope that you will consider how you have suffered this far as a Ghanaian  and make the right choice.

Indeed, when you are scared and the only alternative is scary, then you can actually close your eyes, throw the dice and go anywhere because either is no where.

Unless you are politically sold out to either party, you will admit that making a voting decision in 2020 is more difficult than ever. It is difficult because we have two different parties the same.

It's like breaking up with a tiger and marrying a  lion when all you crave is peace.

Good luck to those going to vote but what if we make another statement? There is a national elections and the winner gets less than 1 million because over 11 million voters refused to vote? Is it not loud enough to make politicians live with the scare that the people are now awake and that a third force with direction can take advantage of the apathy?

Let's think about it, not voting as a form of protest may as well be our most effective civil resistance to bring about the change we have so dearly craved and yet in vain.

When the president of the day knows that he doesn't have majority, he will be tempted to sit up.

We have always seen voting as the means by which we show politicians that their power lies in the bosom of the people but truth is, this is how we have been made to feel good with less.

We need another approach, another way to send our message,

GHANA: Be the change we are looking for by voting smart.

For over a year, I tried convincing my madam to change her mind from not voting, on Friday, we had another discussion and I felt if someone needed a change, it was me.

Not that I don't care,  it's another way of caring. Between now and December, I have a battle to win, to vote or not to vote.
